What will the cover?
In October 2019 the NHS launched the Community Pharmacist Consultation Service, this service was intended to support people getting a same-day appointment with their community pharmacist for minor illness or an urgent supply of a regular medicine. On the 31st of January 2024, the Pharmacy First service was launched to help extend the range of services Pharmacy can offer.
We have listened to the feedback from GP practice staff, Primary Care Networks (PCNs) and Community Pharmacy and you have requested training on:
- What is the difference between CPCS and Pharmacy First?
- Why is it best to send patient referrals electronically?
- What is the quickest way to do a referral while still meeting the Capacity and Access Improvement requirements?
- How do I know what capacity the pharmacy has for appointments?
- Could I book appointments directly into the pharmacy?
- What is the safety netting process for the patient?
- What are the collaborative opportunities between practices and pharmacies?
Future work: Videos will be created on how to do a SystmOne pharmacy referral video, an EMIS referral video and a how to use the EPS2 Prescription Tracker.
