The Dudley Group NHS Trust hosted a 5k superhero fun run at Himley Hall Park in June to raise money for the children’s ward at Russells Hall Hospital.
The Trust was joined by over 200 people for the 5k Superhero Fun Run, which took place at Himley Hall and Park on Sunday 11th June 2023.
Over 90 runners took part in the race, and all together have managed to raise £5000 and counting, in funds for the Dudley Group NHS Charity which are going towards the children’s ward at Russells Hall Hospital to support children and young patients while they are in hospital.
The Black Country Children and Young Peoples Asthma Team also attended the event to support a stall hosted by Emma Harriman, George Coller Paediatric Respiratory Nurse at Russells Hall Hospital, to help raise awareness around asthma.
The team were on hand to offer help and advice to families around managing their child’s asthma symptoms, how to avoid triggers and how to use their inhaler correctly, as well as raise money for improving children’s experience of being in hospital.
Viv Marsh, Specialist Asthma Nurse and Black Country Clinical Lead for Children and Young People’s Asthma Transformation, said: “This was a brilliant event, well done to all those who took part in organising it.
“It was great to have the opportunity to host a stall at the event and we were all really pleased to see so much interest in children’s asthma - we were busy talking to people all day!
“As a parent or carer, it’s sometimes hard to know the best way to look after your child’s asthma, so they can play with friends, do sports and go to school, without asthma symptoms getting in the way. But you’re not alone. There’s support and advice available to help your child stay well.”
