The Black Country Integrated Care System has partnered with SiSU Health to bring staff free health checks using SiSU Health Stations.
The health station is an internet-enabled medical device that allows people to take a free, self-service health check. It offers measurements such as blood pressure, heart rate, and body fat percentage, monitoring heart health and assessing the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases.
Each check takes less than five minutes and results are shown on-screen as well as emailed to the user. If any risk factors are identified, they will be signposted to personalised support services.
There is no limit to how often the stations can be used, and staff can monitor their results and track progress using the SiSU Health App.
Five stations have been installed at locations across the Black Country, including Russells Hall Hospital, Sandwell General Hospital, Penn Hospital, West Midlands Ambulance Service Sandwell Hub and New Cross Hospital, which will be available for the staff for the next 12 months.
Since introducing the health stations in March, more than 431 health checks have been carried across the five sites.
Shajeda Ahmed, Chief People Officer for the NHS Black Country, said: “Our colleagues deliver exceptional care to our community each and every day, which is why supporting their health and wellbeing is of the upmost importance.
“These stations provide the perfect opportunity for our colleagues to get free, regular health checks to monitor and track their health and help empower them to live a healthier life.
“Colleagues can perform their checks on their own, at any time that is convenient to them, and each health check only takes four to five minutes. We’ve already had lots of positive feedback from staff who have used the health stations, which is brilliant.
“Remember, looking after yourself when looking after others is really important, so I would encourage all colleagues to use this service.”
Jez Styles, Head of Commercial Development at SiSU Health UK, said: “SiSU Health UK are delighted to be partnering with the NHS Black Country Integrated Care Board and Healthier Futures. We look forward to working with the team to deliver a service to those who suffer with health inequalities and to help people in this part of the country live a healthy life.”
