The Maternity department at City Hospital relocated to the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital on Wednesday 6 November.

Pregnant women in labour or those who need emergency care should now go to the Midland Met in Smethwick.

Some routine appointments, such as scans and those booked with consultants will take place at the Midland Met.

Meanwhile other appointments will continue at the antenatal clinic on Hallam Street, at the former Sandwell Hospital site, and venues such as the Aston Pride Community Healthcare Centre in Aston.

The Neonatal Unit will also relocate to the new hospital on the same date.

Helen Hurst, Director of Midwifery, said: “The facilities at the Midland Met for our parents-to-be and new parents are modern, bright and built to accommodate families.

“We are very pleased to be leaving the old and dated premises at City Hospital.”
