In January, around 60 representatives from the local pharmacy workforce attended a launch event to mark the establishment of the Black Country Pharmacy Faculty.

The Black Country Pharmacy Faculty was first established in September 2022, following investment from Health Education England. It aims to align pharmacy workforce priorities across the Black Country by bringing together healthcare, private and independent organisations, and education and training providers as one inclusive group.

The event, which took place at Wolverhampton Science Park, was an opportunity for pharmacy professionals from across the Black Country to come together for the first time, network and share ideas of how they can work together to deliver a collective approach to pharmacy workforce activity.

Danielle Taylor, Pharmacy Faculty Chair, said: “It was great to see so many members of our fantastic pharmacy family at our first Black Country Pharmacy Faculty event.

“As a faculty, our aim is to align workforce priorities across the Black Country, focusing on education, training and workforce supply.

“By bringing together our workforce as ‘One Pharmacy’, we will be united in shaping the future of pharmacy and address the issues that affect us all, no matter what sector we work in. That’s exactly what the event helped us to collaboratively think about.”

The Black Country Pharmacy Faculty is a point of contact for all things pharmacy workforce and works equally for employers and its membership body.
