Health and care leaders in the Black Country have been shortlisted for two awards in this year’s Midlands Inclusivity and Diversity Award Scheme (MIDAS).
The Healthier Futures Black Country Integrated Care System (ICS) is in the running for two categories: Inclusive ICS of the Year Award and the Excellence in Leadership Award.
Organised by NHS England, the MIDAS is an annual celebration that aims to recognise new and excellent ways of working by staff, managers, and leaders across the region, who are making the Midlands a more inclusive place to work.
The ICS has been shortlisted for the Inclusive ICS of the Year Award for its work with health and care organisations across the system to help positively tackle racism within the workforce and inequalities in health among local people.
Shajeda Ahmed, Chief People Officer for the Black Country Integrated Care Board, has also been shortlisted for the Excellence in Leadership Award for her commitment to inclusive executive leadership and reducing racism in the workplace.
Jonathan Fellows, Chair of the NHS Black Country Integrated Care Board, said: “To have the ICS and one of our executive leaders shortlisted for two important awards is a fantastic achievement.
“Diversity and inclusion is at the core of our work and is a key part of our future strategy as a system. A special thanks goes to the members of our ICS Equality, Diversity and Inclusion workstream team who continue to work tirelessly on this important agenda.
“This is also well-deserved recognition for Shajeda and the fantastic work she is doing to drive meaningful change on race equality across the system.
“Huge congratulations and best of luck for the awards night.”
The winners of the MIDAS 2022 will be announced at a celebratory virtual event on Friday 18 November.
