‘Welcome Back' offer for returning clinicians
The retention of clinical staff is a priority in the Black Country. For those who return to work following a short absence, whether this is due to sickness, parental leave or a career break, it is essential that support is in place to ensure a smooth transition back into work. This will increase the likelihood of retaining them in local general practice in the long term.
The Welcome Back offer is aimed at clinicians who have been out of general practice for less than two years.
The offer consists of three parts, which are fully funded: a two-week re-induction programme, consultation skills training, and peer mentoring. The total amount of funding per returning clinician is £3,683.60.
The employing practice will provide supervision and support so that the returning clinician has a smooth transition back into work. Practices/PCNs are encouraged to consider how this scheme could support their own resilience.
