In November 2019, the government published a document called "Right to be heard" in response to proposals for mandatory learning disability and autism training for health and social care staff. The training was named after Oliver McGowan, recognizing his story and his family's efforts to improve training for staff in this area.

Medical examiner offices at acute trusts provide independent scrutiny of non-coronial deaths occurring in acute hospitals. The role of these offices is now being extended to also cover deaths occurring in the community, which is a legal requirement by April 2023.

The Black Country ICS is hosting the next round of virtual development workshops to keep everyone informed of the way that health and care are working together.

Our fully funded, nationally recognised peer mentoring scheme, which has been offering support and career guidance to colleagues since 2018, has recently been refreshed. All clinicians in primary care are invited to access 1:1 support from our team of experienced mentors.

Practices in the Black Country are invited to apply for reimbursement of costs incurred to become a Skilled Worker (Tier 2) Visa sponsor. Practices which completed this process in 2021/22 or are applying in 2022/23 are eligible.  

This training is designed to improve understanding of the pathway and focuses specifically on application of the Enhanced Service Specification (ESS) for weight management and Weight Management offers (what they are and how to refer).
