focusing on the assessment, initiation and initial support for people with type 2 diabetes requiring injectable therapy.
You will be sent a resource pack, including a workbook, to use during the course.

Oral medication revisionAssessment for initiating GLP-1 receptor agonists and the PITstop GLP-1 care pathway,introduction to insulin and the insulin devices, injection technique,case studies practicing insulin reviews
Day 2 – 29th February, 08.55 – 16.00
Working through the PITstop insulin care pathway, includingself-management insulin titrationIntroducing insulin regimen changes
Day 3 – 26th April, 08.55 – 13.30
Reflecting on progressUnderstanding carbohydrate awareness for people on insulinAdditional practice altering insulin regimens.An accredited course with Greenwich University: students can work to gain 15 credits at level 5 (diploma). PITstop meets the NICE education criteria for insulin initiation (NICE, 2015) and is recognised by Diabetes UK, NICE, NHS England and SE London Health Innovation Network.
Criteria to apply
Clinicians already providing a diabetes serviceHave completed a foundation level diabetes course (including CDEP e-learning)Are prepared to embed the skills you learn, with support of a local mentorAvailable to attend the full 2.5-day course
