The NHS Low Calorie Diet Programme provided by Oviva is a digitally enabled Type 2 diabetes behaviour change Programme to help patients.

 

The Programme will improve their diabetes control and help them to lose weight via a 12 week low calorie (800-900 cal/day) total diet replacement, 4 week food reintroduction and 8 months regular support.

 

This training session will teach you about the Programme and the patients’ journey, eligible patients, the potential benefits for the patient and how to refer. It will also cover the importance of reviewing medications and helping patients titrate medication as their diabetes improves/weight decreases or blood pressure reduces.

It is essential that all clinicians involved in providing diabetes care have received the training before referring patients to this Programme. The training is suitable for GPs, Practice Nursing, HCAs, Social Prescribing Link Workers, Clinical Pharmacists and other Allied Health Professionals.
