FOR INTERNAL STAFF ONLY: Medical examiner offices at acute trusts provide independent scrutiny of non-coronial deaths occurring in acute hospitals. The role of these offices is now being extended to also cover deaths occurring in the community, which is a legal requirement by April 2023.
Practices will have/or will be contacted by their local trust to engage them in adopting this process to ensure it is fully operational by the end of March 2023.
