Women in the Black Country are being encouraged to attend a special health and wellbeing event in Dudley this weekend.

Hosted by Dudley Integrated Health & Care NHS Trust (DIHC) in partnership with the Black Country Integrated Care System, the event is taking place on Sunday 11 June, 2pm-4pm, at the Ghausia Community Centre in Lye.

Aimed at women aged 25 and over, the event is an opportunity to meet with healthcare professionals and discuss how to lead healthier, happier lives, as well receive free health and diabetes checks.

Attendees will also be given advice on a range of topics including diabetes, adult and child obesity, cancer screening, cardiovascular risk, dementia, and social isolation.

Dr Poonam Tank is a local GP and Clinical Lead for Cancer at DIHC and will be attending the event. She said: “We are hosting the women's health and wellbeing event with a vision to empower, educate, and uplift women from all walks of life in the Black Country.

“Our goal is to shed light on the unique challenges women face in maintaining their health and provide a dynamic platform for learning, breaking down barriers, promoting awareness and education around important topics such as cancer screening programmes.

“By attending this event, women will gain access to valuable resources, health checks and expert insights to help empower them to make informed decisions.

“The event is being supported by lots of organisations and services including Macmillan, Ovacome (an ovarian cancer charity), Solutions 4 Health, diabetes, mental health, adult learning, chronic disease management teams and many more.

“We look forward to welcoming and connecting with as many women as possible on the day, so please do join us if you can.”
