“Some brilliant work to celebrate across the Black Country and West Birmingham.”
“A fantastic opportunity to network with colleagues.”
“It has highlighted how co-production is so important.”
A conference organised by the Black Country and West Birmingham Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS) last week has been voted a success with four NHS Trusts and community organisations coming together to share improvements and ideas.
Attendees, made up of maternity and neonatal staff, people who have used these services and interested professionals, were able to hear from a range of speakers, join workshops covering a host of topics and share feedback from service users.
It is the first major, face to face event that the LMNS has held since the COVID-19 pandemic and supported by Maternity Voices Partnerships (MVPs) across the LMNS. Staff from Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals Trust and the Dudley Group Foundation Trust all supported the event.
Sally Roberts, LMNS Senior Responsible Officer and Chief Nursing Officer, Black Country Integrated Care Board, opened and closed the event at The Poundland Bescot Stadium in Walsall.
Helen Hurst, Clinical Director for the Black Country and West Birmingham LMNS and Director of Midwifery at Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust said: “We had an absolutely brilliant day – the fantastic work that is going on across the Black Country and West Birmingham LMNS was so great to see. We’ve got a lot to be proud of and the opportunity to showcase and share this work was invaluable. Colleagues are so busy delivering support and services that they rarely take time to step back and reflect on the significant difference that their efforts are making to our service users. The workshops were also really well-received with all of us coming away with enhanced knowledge or able to share our learning with others. I’d like to thank everyone who attended and contributed to make it such a worthwhile day as well as all those who organised it.”
