My name is Amanda Healy, I work on the antenatal day assessment unit in maternity at City. I have completed my Level 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care, my Level 1 and 2 Maths and English. I am now at Birmingham City University undertaking a 2 years Apprenticeship Foundation Degree in Midwifery Assistant Practitioner.

Trainee Assistant Practitioner in Midwifery.

My name is Karen and I am an Apprentice working for Sandwell & West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust, completing my Customer Service Practititoner Level 2.
What is your role?
I am a Domestic Service Officer.
Surma Begum
Who are you; what apprenticeship are you doing and where do you work?
My name is Surma Begum and I am completing a Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship at Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals.
What is your role?
My role is a Therapy Assistant for an integrated team of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists. My day to day role would consist of reviewing patients for maintenance therapy, gaining social histories and assisting with transfers and mobility.
Grace Finn
Who are you; what apprenticeship are you doing and where do you work?
My name is Grace and I work for Sandwell & West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust; I completed my Level 3 Team Leading Apprenticeship Standard
What is your role?
I am the Senior Contracts Administrator and Apprenticeship Admin Team Lead for the Apprenticeship Team within People and Organisation Development.
What have you learned during your time as an apprentice?
Completing an apprenticeship was, personally, a real achievement. I was motivated to upskill through a structured training programme, putting new skills into practice, stepping outside my comfort zone and gaining more.
Paul Roberts
Who are you; what apprenticeship are you doing and where do you work?
My name is Paul and I work for Sandwell & West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust; I am completing my Level 3 Team Leading Apprenticeship Standard.
What is your role?
I am a Band 4 Supervisor within the Connected Palliative Care Team.
Have you done an Apprenticeship before?
I started in the Trust 5 years ago as a Business Admin Apprentice. I attended study days and training sessions where I learnt lots of new skills, ideas and knowledge to help me in my role. I was fully supported by my manager Sylvia.
Sajidah Valera
Who are you; what apprenticeship are you doing and where do you work?
My name is Sajidah and I am an apprentice working for Sandwell & West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust, as a maternity clerk completing my Business Administrator Level 3 Standard.
What is your role?
I chose to join an apprenticeship with the Trust because I believe apprenticeships are a great way to access a career path in my chosen sector, which in turn enables me to work towards my chosen career goals. Not only does my apprenticeship provide me with a job and a national recognised qualification, it has provided me with experience, transferable skills and a boost in my confidence which I will carry with me throughout my career.
