The New to Practice GP Fellowship is open to all GPs within 12 months of CCT who are substantively employed (either salaried or partner). It aims to provide a supportive and engaging first experience in practice and retain GPs in the long term, as they are supported to increase their skills and contribute to the development of Primary Care Networks.

Following revised guidance from NHS England and Improvement, the New to Practice GP Fellowship offer has been amended. Please note that it differs from the previous offer in that the level of funding is dependent on the Fellow’s salary and the number of sessions worked.

The programme covers two years and includes:

  • Funded CPD time of up to one session per week (pro rata)
  • A CPD bursary of £2,400
  • Funded educational modules
  • Funded mentoring, coaching and access to the First 5 Network
  • Support to undertake a leadership role and/or develop a special interest

Practices and PCNs can apply to host a Fellowship, please contact the team with any queries primarycare.blackcountry@nhs.net.
